Brian Whitehouse has combined a long teaching career, having held appointments in the music departments at many of England’s universities and colleges, with some considerable amount of recording and composing for film, television and radio.
He has been a player of José Ramírez concert instruments over many decades with a keen enthusiasm for the extensive, fascinating evolution of the guitar and its repertoire.
Interesting memorabilia from the collection of Brian and his wife, Margaret, is shown here; including an unpublished manuscript composition by Francisco Tárrega, which receives its premier recording.
Brian’s hobby is playing chess and he was honoured to be elected President of the Birmingham Chess League in this, the fiftieth year of his membership.
